Graphic novelist Brent Anderson will be at our Graphic Novel Open House this coming Saturday, March 7th, 11 AM - 3 PM at the Round Valley Branch Library. He'll be chatting with attendees and workshopping with kids on how to create a comic character and put together a short comic strip. Brent is best known for co-creating the acclaimed series Astro City with Kurt Busiek and illustrating the seminal X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills graphic novel. His career spans from underground comix to major work for Marvel and DC Comics.
Kids, grown-ups, families: we hope to see you all, this Saturday, March 7th, at the library and in the community room, for our first ever Graphic Novel Open House. We have lots of fun planned for you. Young artists, bring samples of your artwork to show to Brent Anderson, our visiting comic artist. Costumes welcome — if you have a favorite character, feel free to dress up!
Now showing in the Library Commons Lobby! The Art Committee is proud to present The Spirit of Will Eisner: Retrospective — a special exhibit celebrating Will Eisner and honoring Will Eisner Week (March 1–7). We’re also thrilled to celebrate the Round Valley - Mendocino County Library for being awarded the prestigious Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant! What an exciting achievement for our community and for the future of graphic storytelling at our library. Stop by the Library Commons Lobby to view the display, explore the world of graphic novels, and maybe even check one out to read! While you’re there, treat yourself to a cup of coffee from The Walnut Grove Cafe and make an afternoon of it. Come celebrate creativity, storytelling, and the power of art with us!
Love gardening, community, or just getting your hands a little dirty for a good cause? Join us for a Seed Library Work Party this Saturday and next (February 21st and 28th), 11 AM-2 PM! We’ll be sorting seeds, labeling packets, organizing inventory, and getting everything ready for the upcoming growing season. No experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm!
